Grab invests in Splyt
Grab, a Singaporean ride-hailing company, has invested in Splyt Technologies, a London-based company, and expanded a collaboration between the two businesses that will extend Grab’s facilities beyond Southeast Asia.
Splyt’s innovation will enable Grab customers traveling outside the area to order trips through the Grab app without needing to access another app, the businesses said in a statement.
The collaboration is consistent with Grab’s approach to become a’ super-app’ by extending its variety of facilities from transportation to meals distribution and payments.
Ctrip and AliPay customers traveling Southeast Asia are already able to receive Grab rides through their own applications under the Grab and Splyt collaboration. Investment by Grab is portion of Splyt’s US$ 8 million financing round.
While Splyt does not run its own ride-hailing service, its website provides connections to ride-hailing inventory in over 1,000 cities for its customers.
